About Us

The ACK St. Thomas Aquinas Tena Parish began in 2004 as a church plan of ACK St. James Buruburu following a request by Tena Residents Association (TRA) to St. James Buruburu to start an Anglican church in Tena area. A little earlier than that, ACK St. James Buruburu had also planted ACK St. Luke's Church in Umoja I area. ACK St. Luke's Umoja quickly became a parish and was re-assigned as the mother church to ACK Tena Church which initially met in the home of a Mr. Mrs. Awuor in Tena Estate before moving to its present location in Tena estate.

The Bishop of the ACK Diocese of Nairobi, the Right Reverend Joel Waweru, names the ACK Tena Church, ACK St. Thomas Aquinas Tena Church on the 31st of May 2017. In the July 2017, the church received an allotment letter for the land on which it sits from the City County Government of Nairobi from the ceding of the plot by the TRA. On 1st September 2017, the ACK St. Thomas Aquinas Tena Church was made a parish and Rev. Kenneth Opondo Yuyu named its first Vicar.

    ACK St.Thomas Aquinas

As St. Thomas Aquinas Tena Parish, we express profound gratitude to God for our journey, beginning in 2004 as a church plant of ACK St. James Buruburu. Originating from the initiative of Tena Residents Association, we have grown from meeting in homes to becoming an established parish. Acknowledging the providence of God, we commemorate milestones, including the official naming of ACK St. Thomas Aquinas Tena Church in 2017 and receiving the allotment letter for our present location from the City County Government of Nairobi.
